Advancing Intercultural Communication Skills in Diverse Teams: An Intervention Program for Project-Based Engineering Courses

نویسندگان

چکیده

Studies show engineering graduates lack critical skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and appropriately in diverse teams. As institutions seek effective affordable solutions meet ABET accreditation standards for non-technical we report on an intervention program designed advance learners’ intercultural communication (IComm) skills. We adapted UNESCO Story Circles methodology (2020) undergraduate contexts: discipline-specific prompts guide oral exchanges among students, tasking learners practice IComm principles The 2021 mixed￾method study tracked 31 students’ attitudes toward teamwork performance project-based learning. Data sources included three survey instruments, individual project grades, end-of-semester course evaluations. Results strong student support across demographics instructional modalities; improved learner post-intervention surveys; evaluations compared 2019; and, higher grades team project. Findings use of our courses highlight importance guiding students intentional principles.
